Updates posted below

We are very pleased to announce that the Town of Rosthern has been approved for funding from the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program - Green Infrastructure to complete the Water Supply and Treatment Plant Upgrades!

This funding has given us the opportunity to complete major capital upgrades including:

  • Construct five new water wells
  • New Water Treatment Plant with larger water reservoir
  • Install new raw water supply lines
  • Integrate a new communications system
  • Upgrade existing well control buildings
  • Demolition of the old Water Treatment Plant and reservoir

The full project will cost $19.6 million with the funding contributions broken down as follows:

  • Federal - $7,843,152
  • Provincial - $6,535,306
  • Municipal - $5,229,422

This project will without a doubt revitalize our aging water infrastructure and secure its longevity so that it can accommodate current demand, future growth, and new servicing requirements which are presenting daily!

Walls Going Up! Water Treatment Plant Construction Update

Exciting progress continues on the new water treatment plant! The underground reservoir cells have been completed and backfilling is nearly finished. Above ground, the steel framework for the building is in place, and crews are installing insulated wall panels to fully enclose the structure.

Inside, work continues on preparing the space for equipment and systems that will make the plant fully operational. Every step brings us closer to delivering a modern, efficient water treatment facility for our community!

Our New Water Treatment Plant is Taking Shape

We’re excited to share the latest progress with you. Crews are nearing completion of the large treated water reservoir cells, a key milestone in the project! Hydrostatic testing was recently completed to check for leaks, allowing crews to identify and repair minor issues and ensure the reservoir is fully sealed and ready for the next phase.

Crews are now carefully backfilling around the concrete reservoir cells while work continues on the above-ground structure. Every step brings us closer to completion!

Building a Stronger Future – Water Treatment Plant Progress

Rosthern’s new Water Treatment Plant continues to move forward with steady momentum. Currently underway is the construction of a below-grade, multi-chamber concrete reservoir beneath the facility. This structure will store treated water while also forming the foundation for the Water Treatment Plant itself.

When complete, the new reservoir will add 554,765 gallons of treated, available water to our existing capacity of 221,376 gallons—bringing the total to an impressive 776,141 gallons. Designed with the future in mind, this expanded storage will serve the needs of our community for the next 20 years and beyond.
