Twin Rivers District

The Twin Rivers Planning District is a collaborative initiative formed to support its member municipalities in managing growth, sustaining essential services, and meeting the evolving needs of the population and local economy. This District presents an opportunity to foster ongoing economic development, reduce land-use conflicts through clear guidelines, safeguard environmentally sensitive areas, and implement strategies that drive community revitalization and population growth.

To ensure a prosperous future, Twin Rivers advocates for thoughtful change across both rural and urban settings, encouraging growth that aligns with socio-economic goals. Strategic Planning is essential to promote agricultural diversification, stimulate business development, generate employment, and expand residential choices and community amenities that attract new residents. These efforts will generate widespread benefits, including increased tax revenue, stronger support for local businesses, and enhanced economic and social opportunities.

A Twin Rivers District Plan has been developed that will serve both as a day-to-day management tool and a long-term strategic framework. This plan-dynamic by design is guided by shared goals and reinforced by key initiatives outlined in the "Action Plan" section, promoting greater
inter-municipal cooperation and partnerships throughout the Twin Rivers Planning District.

Twin Rivers District Plan

In 2012, the Municipalities of Twin Rivers collaborated to establish the Twin Rivers District Planning Commission. Two years later, in 2014, the commission formally adopted the district plan.

The District Plan provides a clear framework for how the area will grow and develop. It covers land use, planning, and shared regional issues agreed on by local municipalities.

The District Plan fulfills the Act's requirements by setting out policies shaped by "District Goals." These goals guide the Municipal Council's daily decisions to support orderly and well-managed development. The Plan also offers clarity for both public and private sectors regarding future land use.
